František Novotný studied the violin at the Brno Conservatory with Professor B.Kotmel, at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts with Professor B.Smejkal and with the leading
virtuosi and teachers Zakhar Bron and Viktor Tretiakov. He has been awarded first prizes, laureateships and special prizes at more than twenty competitions (among others
Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, Prague Spring, Premio Paganini in Genova, International Competition in Tokyo). He has received the award of the Italian radio and
television company RAI and the medal of H. Wieniawsky. His wide repertoire includes over fifty compositions with orchestra which he has performed with supreme Czech and
international symphonic ensembles, and he gives concerts all over Europe, Japan and the USA. František Novotný has made recordigs both at home and abroad. Apart from solo
playing he teaches the violin at the Music Faculty of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, giving also regular master classes in the Czech Republic, Japan and the
USA.
