The mezzo-soprano Dagmar Pecková has established a firm position for herself on the European theatre and concert stages. She graduated from the Prague Conservatory. After two years at the opera studio in Dresden she was engaged as a soloist by the Semper Opera in 1987. A year later she became a soloist of the State Opera in Berlin. Since the beginning of her career she has been trained by Professor Antonie Denygrová. Recently she has been appearing at the finest European opera houses, such as Stuttgart, Berlin, Dresden, Geneva, Basle, London and München. Her concerts have been equally successful; her varied repertoire ranges from classical songs to contemporary pieces. Dagmar Pecková has recorded eight solo CDs for the Supraphon label. In 2003 she was awarded the Golden Disc of Supraphon for 5000 CDs sold featuring the song cycles of Antonín Dvořák. Her main goals in 2004 include the part of the Fox in The Cunning Little Vixen in San Francisco, the part of Varvara in Káa Kabanová in Paris and a number of song recitals with the pianist Irwin Gage, featuring Czech songs (Lisbon, Barcelona, Perugia, etc.).
